24th Annual Model Railroad Garage Sale–This Weekend

Here is a friendly reminder that the 24th Annual Model Railroad Garage Sale happens this Saturday, September 7th running from 9am to 1pm.  There are quite a few vendors signed up and a different mix of items that you will see this year.  A bunch of new items have shown up just in time for the event in the depot as well. There will also be a number of in-store specials and draws.

Come on out, find some bargains, meet some fellow modellers, have a good time. Watch our Facebook page this week for a few little hints of what a few of the deals might be.  Don’t have Facebook go to our site and you can see the posts there as well.  We hope that the weather will co-operate with us this year to make this one of the best Garage sales ever.  This year we have around 65 vendor tables signed up. There should be lots of treasures to find. Come join us Saturday for this fine Modellers-for-Modellers event of 2024 (remember, the event goes on, rain or shine).  All the tents have been set up already to keep everyone covered.

Please note, this is a free event and donations received from each year’s event are put back into improving the next year’s event. If you have ideas that you would like to see put into place for upcoming events please share them with us—we want to continue improving this event to ensure it remains something you don’t want to miss.

24th Annual Model Railroad Garage Sale

The 24th annual Model Railroad Garage sale is coming up fast. Mark September 7, 2024 on your calendar as you will not want to miss this wonderful event. It is a terrific way for those just starting in the hobby to find some items, meet others in the hobby, gain ideas, and share in discussions. Many have also found that sought-after treasure on someone’s table that was just what they needed to bring some life to their own layout.

This event is hosted FREE of charge for both vendors and customers. It is put on as a modellers-for-modellers day to help spread the word that Model Railroading is a fun and fulfilling hobby for all ages. While this event only lasts 4 hours, many hours are spent on the planning and set up of the event. As long as the interest to attend is strong we will continue to put this event on. It runs from 9am - 1pm with vendors allowed to start setting up as early as 6:30am.

Many have already signed up to be vendors, and spaces are filling up quickly. We will be taking reservations for vendors until August 20, 2024 so if you wish to attend this year as a vendor please let us know ASAP.

Also this year, we will again have the community table. For those that are not familiar with how the table works, it is a way for people to bring just a few things and leave them for sale at the event. If you wish to bring items for the community table we ask that they be brought into the store already priced no later than August 18, 2024 to have them tagged and set up for the sale. All remaining items and money from the items sold are to be picked up by the end of September. If you wish more info on putting items on the table please feel free to contact me via phone at 519-807-2345 or email carol@countylinecaboose.ca, or send a private message through Facebook.

Get out your pen and circle September 7th on your calendars and come on out to share in the fun and excitement of the 24th Annual Model Railroad Garage Sale.

Please note, the donations received from each year’s event are put back into improving the next year’s event. If you have ideas that you would like to see put into place for upcoming events please share them with us—we want to continue improving this event to ensure it remains something you don’t want to miss.

This event is hosted in the big garage next door as well as tents that are brought in for the event—the event goes ahead rain or shine.

Summer in full swing

It seems like this year is flying by.  The ice cream side of operations has been good and busy, it has been hard to find some time to sit down and get out a newsletter.

As a reminder in the summer our hours are extended.

Summer hours are as follows:

Monday Closed, but available by appointment
Tuesday Closed, but available by appointment
Wednesday 3pm – 8pm
Thursday 3pm – 8pm
Friday Noon – 8pm
Saturday 9am – 8pm
Sunday 10am – 8pm

Depot Changes

The Depot (your one-stop shop for previously enjoyed model train items)  has more stock than it can effectively display.  We hope to get all stock in the online catalogue, though.

So if you are looking online and find an item and then come to the depot to get it, please bring the product number with you.  We will be able to find the product in the over stocked area for you and pull it out.

So watch the website over the next few months as we continue to process through collections that have treasures waiting in them to be found.

If you have an item that you have been searching for as well, you can request that we add it to the watch list. While it may not be here at the moment it may come along and you will be the first one contacted.

Pre-order to avoid missing out

We are all guilty of thinking “I won’t order it I am sure the store will order extra and they will have some”.  This is becoming a statement that is not always true any more.

It is getting more difficult for stores to know what to bring in, as some of the pre-order arrival dates are so far in the future it is hard to estimate the demand.  That is why if you find something that you do wish please let us know.  We are more than happy to pre-order anything for you, as that ensures that the item will be reserved once it is released and you will be able to have it.  While I always order extra for stock, there are a lot of times where once the product has gone into shipping people have contacted us and the extra stock is sold before it even gets to the store.

So help us help you avoid disappointment.  If you see something that is a pre-order let me know about it, I will be more than happy to get that order in for you.  Keep in mind that a pre-order is placed but most times no money is taken until you pick up, or have the product shipped out to you.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Just a reminder that one of the best sources for knowledge and ideas can come from Model Railroad magazines.  We have a reduce, reuse recycle program that lets those magazines give more to fellow modellers.  Feel free to drop in and pick up some free magazines—you never know what ideas you might find.  We currently have many donations waiting to find a new home.  Feel free to drop in and take a few or a bag.

Don’t Forget the Depot

A reminder that we are not only a retailer of new product, but we also have a whole second store dedicated to used trains and accessories.  The stock in that store changes frequently and there is often something new to find.  So stop by and check out our used train depot to look for some of those long ago released items.

We also purchase train collections, feel free to contact us if you are also looking to sell.
