26th Annual Model Railroad Garage Sale

The 26th annual Model Railroad Garage sale is coming up fast. Mark September 12, 2026 on your calendar as you will not want to miss this wonderful event. It is a terrific way for those just starting in the hobby to find some items, meet others in the hobby, gain ideas, and share in discussions. Many have also found that sought-after treasure on someone’s table that was just what they needed to bring some life to their own layout.

This event is hosted FREE of charge for both vendors and customers. It is put on as a modellers-for-modellers day to help spread the word that Model Railroading is a fun and fulfilling hobby for all ages. While this event only lasts 4 hours, many hours are spent on the planning and set up of the event. As long as the interest to attend is strong we will continue to put this event on. It runs from 9am - 1pm with vendors allowed to start setting up as early as 6:30am.

Many have already signed up to be vendors, and spaces are filling up quickly. We will be taking reservations for vendors until August 30, 2026 so if you wish to attend this year as a vendor please let us know ASAP.

Also this year, we will again have the community table. For those that are not familiar with how the table works, it is a way for people to bring just a few things and leave them for sale at the event. If you wish to bring items for the community table we ask that they be brought into the store already priced no later than August 23, 2026 to have them tagged and set up for the sale. All remaining items and money from the items sold are to be picked up by the end of September. If you wish more info on putting items on the table please feel free to contact me via phone at 519-807-2345 or email carol@countylinecaboose.ca, or send a private message through Facebook.

Get out your pen and circle September 12th on your calendars and come on out to share in the fun and excitement of the 26th Annual Model Railroad Garage Sale.

Please note, the donations received from each year’s event are put back into improving the next year’s event. If you have ideas that you would like to see put into place for upcoming events please share them with us—we want to continue improving this event to ensure it remains something you don’t want to miss.

We bring in tents for the event and it goes ahead rain or shine.

Don’t Forget the Depot

We want to take this time to remind everyone that we have two train stores here on site.  The yellow building is our main store with new product, but the big green and white one next door features previously loved products.

While we can’t have everything out on the shelves over there, we have started adding all the items to the online catalogue and you can search them there.  If you find an item that you are interested in please record the product # (starts “18-…”).  You may not see it on the tables when you go in but just ask for that number and we should be able to locate it and get it for you.

For those that have not used the site in while you can now search by just the Depot as well through the search bar on the top right hand side of our site.

There are many great finds in there just waiting to find a new loving home.

We also purchase full collections, if you are in the market to sell or know of someone that is please reach out for details.

Featured Project

Over the years we have seem people share so many of their projects with us and they all tell a story.  We are looking for one of your projects that you are proud of, that you would like to share with other modellers.  It is really quite simple, send us a photo of the project that you would like featured and each weekend we are going to post a featured project to our Facebook page.  We will not identify the person (unless they wish it) just share their work of art.  Please send your feature to carol@countylinecaboose.ca.  We are hoping that people sharing things that they have done will help inspire others in the hobby as well as give them some great ideas.

Seniors’ Day Reminder

Seniors’ Day is the last Friday of every month.  For those 60+ enjoy 10% off your purchases both in the new store and the depot.  Items that are excluded from this are magazines, special order items, repairs, decoders and decoder systems, anything that is already on a reduced special.

Here are a list of the Seniors’ Days for 2026:

25th Annual Model Railroad Garage Sale–This Weekend

Here is a friendly reminder that the 25th Annual Model Railroad Garage Sale happens this Saturday, September 6th running from 9am to 1pm.  There are quite a few vendors signed up and a different mix of items that you will see this year.  A bunch of new items have shown up just in time for the event in the depot as well. There will also be a number of in-store specials and draws.

Come on out, find some bargains, meet some fellow modellers, have a good time. Watch our Facebook page this week for a few little hints of what a few of the deals might be.  Don’t have Facebook?  Go to our site and you can see the posts there as well.  We hope that the weather will co-operate with us this year to make this one of the best Garage sales ever.  This year we have around 60 vendor tables signed up. There should be lots of treasures to find. Come join us Saturday for this fine Modellers-for-Modellers event of 2025 (remember, the event goes on, rain or shine).  All the tents have been set up already to keep everyone covered.

Please note, this is a free event and donations received from each year’s event are put back into improving the next year’s event. If you have ideas that you would like to see put into place for upcoming events please share them with us—we want to continue improving this event to ensure it remains something you don’t want to miss.

Hope to see you Saturday!

Wow 30 Years

Well 2025 marks our 30th year.  Many things have changed since we opened in 1995, but the one thing that remains the same is we are a full service Model Train only store that is here to help our fellow modellers.

We have had a full journey of changes, from being able to order the same products over and over to the pre-order model that is now the norm.

A lot of the Canadian manufacturers that we once had access to (some great products I may add) have since disappeared for many different reasons – leaving some holes in the Canadian market.

DCC has evolved since 1995 in ways that no one would have thought when it was first more massively introduced so many years ago.  This is an area that still to this day evolves and keeps getting better.

Key dates from our journey so far:

1995 - Open in the caboose with half ice cream and half model train store

2000 - out grow caboose and move train store to the yellow building we are in today

2018 - add the Depot (estates and consignment) store to the business in the big white and green building beside the store

2025 - 30 years of serving the model railroad community and looking forward to many more – watch for a customer appreciation weekend to be announced for the fall

Seniors’ Day

We now have a Seniors’ Day the last Friday of every month.  For those 60+ enjoy 10% off your purchases both in the new store and the depot.  Items that are excluded from this are magazines, special order items, repairs, decoders and decoder systems, anything that is already on a reduced special.
